FAQ
-
What is remedial bodywork (remedial massage) and how is it different from relaxation massage?
Remedial bodywork targets specific pain and movement patterns using techniques like trigger point, myofascial release and stretching. It aims to reduce pain, improve range of motion and support recovery. Relaxation massage is gentler and aims primarily to calm the nervous system.
-
Do you run women’s events and gatherings on the Sunshine Coast?
Yes. I host women’s circles and teachings on the Sunshine Coast, weaving song, ritual and story. These gatherings support connection, cyclical living and embodied practices; upcoming dates are listed on the Gatherings page.
-
What is “Closing of the Bones”?
Closing of the Bones is a traditional Mexican postpartum/rite-of-passage ceremony using warm oils, herbal steam/sweat and rebozo wrapping/rocking. It invites containment, integration and a felt sense of return after birth or any major life threshold. I offer a full 4-hour rite (monthly) and a shorter “mini closing” as an add-on to treatments.
-
What’s included in Womb Care / Womb Alchemy?
Womb Care centres on Mama Medicina abdominal massage (womb/abdominal/pelvic area) to support circulation, alignment, lymph and nervous-system regulation. Sessions may include sound, gentle anointing and, when appropriate, an optional womb steam or mini closing to integrate. It’s consent-led and tailored to your phase of life (maiden–mother–maga–crone).
-
I have menstrual pain, endometriosis, fibroids or PCOS—can you treat me?
I offer supportive bodywork alongside your medical care. Womb-centred massage may help ease pelvic tension, period pain and stress, and support body awareness and self-care—it is not a medical treatment or diagnosis. We’ll discuss what’s suitable for you, adapt touch areas, and pace sessions with your cycle.
-
What is a yoni steam / womb steam? Is it safe?
A womb (yoni) steam is a gentle herbal steam used ceremonially to warm, cleanse and tone the pelvic area and support a sense of connection. Not suitable during pregnancy, active bleeding, with IUD/mesh, or active infection. If steaming isn’t appropriate, we use other warming and integrative methods.
-
Who do you treat?
I see women across all life stages, including those post-hysterectomy.
Remedial massage is available for men and women. Sessions are trauma-aware and consent-led—you can pause, change your mind or skip areas at any time.
